A rotary fine screen, also known as a fine screen filter or spiral screen machine, is an internal-feed screen drum cleaner that combines a fine screen cleaner, a screen residue screw elevator, and a screen residue screw press. It is ideal for separating floating, settled, and suspended matter from water in municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants. It is widely used for solid-liquid separation, residue cleaning, conveying, and dehydration in municipal and industrial wastewater treatment projects.
The rotary fine screen is mainly composed of a cleaning rake bucket, lifting components, grid plates, cleaning push rods, a control panel, a frame, and ground support. It is a new type of solid-liquid separation machinery that integrates the functions of a traditional grid, a conveyor, and a screw press. It can be installed directly in a water channel or in a container box. Sewage flows into the front end of the basket and flows out through the basket gaps, while filter residue is trapped inside. The accumulated residue on the grid also acts as a filter layer, improving filtration efficiency.
When the water level difference between the front and rear of the basket reaches a set value, the deceleration motor automatically starts, driving the basket frame to rotate. When the filter residue reaches a vertical position, it falls into the central hopper, is transported and lifted by the screw, and finally discharged through the outlet into a conveyor for external transport. To clean the filter residue from the grid gaps, two flushing devices are used: misty flushing water removes larger particles, with a flushing water pressure of 0.6 MPa.
The rotating cleaning mesh cylinder of the rotary fine screen moves in a circular motion at a 35° angle in water at 5–8 revolutions per minute, with one-third of the mesh cylinder submerged. Wastewater and floating debris enter the interior of the mesh cylinder from the lower opening. Floating debris adheres to the inner wall of the mesh cylinder and is lifted out of the water. When the mesh cylinder reaches the high point, impurities fall into the garbage conveying system due to gravity and are conveyed and pressed to the discharge outlet. Filtered sewage flows out through the gaps between the mesh cylinders.

Both ends of the drum are welded and fixed with precision-cut thick stainless steel rings to maintain the concentricity of the mesh cylinder during rotation.
The self-cleaning rotary slag scraper provides continuous forced cleaning, ensuring an effective filtering area and significantly improving cleaning efficiency.
The spiral rotation of the conveying and pressing device is powered by the same reducer as the mesh drum. The conveying and pressing spiral is a shaft spiral, with stainless steel spiral blades. The pitch gradually decreases from bottom to top, increasing the pressing capacity progressively.
Application
