Products Description
The grit wastewater separator is suitable for sand treatment in sedimentation tanks of urban wastewater treatment plants. It is mainly used in conjunction with a cyclone grit removal unit or a grit suction machine to further separate the discharged sand–water mixture.
The grit wastewater separator adopts a shaftless spiral structure. The sand–water mixture enters the separator from the upper inlet, where sand and gravel settle by gravity in the sand–water separation tank. The rotation of the shaftless spiral gradually pushes the settled sand and gravel along a 25% inclined U-shaped trough toward the outlet, where they fall into a receiving container and are transported out of the system. The separated water is discharged from the overflow outlet of the separation tank, improving the operating environment and facilitating external transportation.
Functionally, the equipment utilizes the principles of gravity settling and mechanical separation to achieve sand–water separation. Wastewater first enters the sedimentation zone, where heavier sand particles begin to settle. Subsequently, the water flow carries lighter particulate matter into the separation zone, where further filtration and separation are achieved through a specially designed filter or drum. The clarified water can be reused or discharged, while the separated sand particles are centrally collected for convenient handling and transportation.
The spiral sand–water separator can be used as an auxiliary device for various grit chambers to separate sand and other heavy granular solids from sand-laden wastewater. Sand-laden wastewater enters tangentially from the upper end of a conical vessel, forming a vortex inside the vessel. Under the combined effects of gravity and centrifugal force, sand particles rapidly settle to the bottom. Rotating spiral blades then push the sand particles toward the upper discharge port for removal. The unique tangential water inlet design creates a vortex flow, significantly accelerating the sand settling rate. Compared with conventional sand–water separators, this system enables faster sand settling and higher separation efficiency. Tests have shown that the separation efficiency for sand particles with a particle size greater than 0.2 mm can reach up to 90%.

Feature
High separation efficiency, capable of separating sand particles with a diameter of ≥0.2 mm.
Compact structure and lightweight design.
Adoption of a shaftless spiral and waterless bearings, making maintenance simple and convenient.
The reducer, as the key component of the transmission device, adopts a shaft-mounted design without the need for a coupling, allowing easy installation. The driving unit is mounted at the top of the spiral device and directly drives the shaft head of the shaftless spiral.
The lining strips are of a quick-installation type, allowing easy replacement and reduced downtime.
The spiral position can be adjusted as required.
Application
This equipment is used in industrial wastewater treatment, with its primary function being the separation of sand particles and other particulate matter from wastewater, thereby improving water quality and protecting the normal operation of downstream treatment processes. It is widely used in applications such as mines, tunnels, and construction sites where large volumes of sand-containing wastewater are generated.
