The rotary drum filter for aquaculture is fully automatic and can effectively remove low concentrations of suspended solids (SS), with a removal rate exceeding 75%. After adding chemical agents to the influent, concentrations of COD, BOD, and TP can also be reduced. The filter drum has a vertical design, allowing large sludge particles to settle directly to the bottom of the tank, which reduces the filtration load. Filtration and cleaning processes occur simultaneously, improving operational efficiency. The innovative design allows easy replacement of the filter drum. The filter cloth uses negative pressure suction cleaning, eliminating the need for a water storage tank and reducing operational costs.

The rotary drum filter is a highly efficient solid-liquid separation device that combines mechanical and screen filtration. Its core component is a continuously rotating metal drum, mounted horizontally or at a slight incline, and covered with a stainless steel screen of specified precision. The operating principle is as follows: water to be filtered enters the drum at one end. Gravity or water level differences allow clean water to flow through the screen, while suspended solids are trapped on the drum surface. As the drum rotates slowly, the trapped solids are carried to the top, where they are removed by a backpressure spray system or suction device, achieving continuous, automatic filtration and cleaning.

Working Principle

 

 

After the raw water enters the filter, it flows through the microporous filter cloth fixed on the hollow shaft under the action of gravity and pressure difference. Solid suspended matter is trapped on the outside of the filter cloth. The filtrate is collected into the hollow shaft through the filter disc, flows into the outlet slot, and is discharged from the filter via the outlet weir plate.

During filtration, sludge accumulates on the outside of the filter cloth, gradually forming a sludge layer. As the sludge builds up, the filtration resistance of the filter cloth increases, causing the liquid level in the tank to rise. When the liquid level reaches the set value, the PLC simultaneously activates the suction pump and the transmission device to rotate the filter disc. The cleaning device, fixed on the outside of the filter cloth, scrapes off and suctions the sludge from the surface, completing the cleaning process.

A sludge discharge pipe is provided at the bottom of the tank. By setting a timer, the PLC automatically starts the sludge discharge pump to remove sludge that has settled at the bottom.

The box-type fiber rotary filter is mainly composed of a box, filter discs, a hollow shaft, a cleaning mechanism, a sludge discharge mechanism, a driving mechanism, a suction pump, a valve mechanism, and an electrical control system.

Box: Made of welded carbon steel with anti-corrosion treatment. The box structure is compact, lightweight, and occupies a small footprint. It can also be constructed as a reinforced concrete structure depending on site conditions.

Filter Disc: Each filter disc consists of six independent parts and is covered with filter cloth.

Hollow Shaft: Made of welded steel. The hollow shaft not only transports the filtered water but also drives the rotation of the filter discs.

Cleaning Mechanism: Composed of a cleaning suction port, pipe, clamping device, supporting components, and other parts. It is used to clean the filter cloth.

Driving Mechanism: Composed of a reducer, sprocket, chain, and related components. It drives the hollow shaft and filter discs to rotate.

Sludge Discharge Mechanism: Composed of a sludge discharge suction port, pipe, and suction port bracket. It removes the sludge accumulated at the bottom of the filter.

Suction Pump and Valve Mechanism: Composed of a centrifugal pump, piping, and electric ball valve. It is used for cleaning and sludge discharge.

Electrical Control System: Composed of electrical control components such as a control box, PLC, touchscreen, and liquid level monitoring devices. It controls the backwashing and sludge discharge processes, enabling automatic operation and adjustment of backwashing and sludge discharge intervals.
